Year 4 MB/BS students are eligible to apply for the Pre-Elective Prize. Year 5 MB/BS students are eligible to apply for the Post-Elective Prize. For qualification criteria, see below.
There will be an annual Prize to be known as the Med Chi Society Pre- Elective Prize. This Prize is worth £500. The Prize is awarded annually in February at the Norwich Medical School Electives evening. The Prize may be split between more than one recipient. If no candidate is judged to be of sufficient merit, the Prize shall not be awarded.
Year 4 MB/BS students are eligible to apply for the Prize as long as they achieve the following:
Each Elective Tutor will nominate two students whom they consider have met all the criteria and have submitted the best draft Elective Proposal and Risk Assessment. The criteria for a good proposal are deemed as follows:
The prize winner should not be decided on the quality of the risk assessment. Instead, poor quality risk assessment should be used to exclude students from nomination.
The Elective Committee will consider the Final Elective Proposal and Risk Assessment as submitted by all the nominated students. Five students will be selected for consideration by the Med Chi Society. The Med Chi Society will select three students to present at the annual Norwich Medical School Electives Evening. The winner will be decided by the Med Chi Society representative following the presentations.

The ten best essays will be selected following double marking. The Elective Committee will select five essays for consideration by the Med Chi Society.
